This is week three of our special Advent series. Over the coming weeks leading up to Christmas, NMI Central and Kids Kaleidoscope will introduce you to some of the unique traditions that are kept across the global Church of the Nazarene. We hope you enjoy this wonderful season of Advent, Christmastide, and Epiphany.
Advent has always been thought of as a season of joy because Christ, who was born, ushered in a new spirit that cannot be broken by sadness, sickness, or death. Life is, in Christ, to be lived out joyfully. Our giving is to be marked by the attitude in which we give—joyfully.
Food is culture, and in most areas of the world, Christmas is a time to celebrate traditional meals. Taste brings memories to life; joy fills our senses.
To learn more about traditional foods shared during the Christmas season, check out this week’s Kids Kaleidoscope. Kids Kaleidoscope is a special NMI Central supplement created to help children, youth, and adults learn more about their Nazarene family around the world.
Did You Know?
The word “carol” actually means dance or song of praise and joy. Carols used to be sung during all four seasons, but the only seasonal tradition to survive is singing them at Christmas.
