The SoCal Extreme Heat Research Hub has been keeping busy this summer with research, outreach, and education activities! In this season's newsletter, we highlight our community partner roundtable, touch on our collaborations with partners at WorldBeat Cultural Center and Tree San Diego, and spotlight student research. Read on to learn more about each of these activities.
But first – summer is in full swing, and we're expected to face high temperatures again this weekend in Southern California. In preparation for the heat, we've listed some resources below to help you stay cool!

Extreme heat has been a big topic in the news over the past several months as we've greeted the summer season and experienced multiple heat events. Drs. Tarik Benmarhnia, Sasha Gershunov, Kristen Guirguis, and Rachel Clemesha were each interviewed for news stories related to climate, heat, and health since our last newsletter. Check them out below!

In June, two Heat Hub-affiliated students from the Masters of Advanced Studies in Climate Science and Policy program shared their research at a capstone symposium. Read more.

| Our Heat Hub weather station team installed a station with our partners at WorldBeat Center in Balboa Park in June. More information to come as we develop activities to accompany the station!

Dr. Morgan Levy, who leads the Hub's Ecohydrology research, shared insights on integrating green spaces into urban planning to mitigate urban heat as part of a webinar with Tree San Diego. Watch it here.

San Diego's second annual Heat and Human Health Summit (H3SD) will be held at UC San Diego School of Medicine and will feature research talks, posters, and breakout sessions focused on extreme heat and its health impacts.
- See presentations from the Heat Hub's Nan Renner, Climate Change Epidemiology Lab's Caitlin Jones-Ngo, and a poster talk from the Heat Hub and San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative's Nicole Fassina.
