What's New in Workday | Sept 2026
The September 2026 Workday release introduces refreshed designs and streamlined functionality, while the University of Mississippi continues to enhance how we use Workday to support our employees and business processes.
Because Workday is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, enhancements and adjustments occur throughout the year. This quarterly update highlights important changes, resources, and tips to help you make the most of Workday at the University of Mississippi.
You may notice a few subtle design changes in Workday following the September release, including rounded corners, refreshed icons, fewer navy banners, and a simplified homepage.
These updates are primarily visual, so while Workday may look slightly different, the functionality you rely on remains largely the same.
2. New Profile Layout and Fields
One of the most noticeable changes from the September release is a redesigned Worker Profile.
You will continue to access your profile by selecting your photo in the upper-right corner of Workday and choosing View Profile. Once there, you'll notice a refreshed layout that makes frequently referenced information easier to find.
Your title, manager, work location, work email, and phone number are now more prominently displayed. The profile toolbar has also been updated to display more options without cutting them off on the page.
You'll also see two new views:
- Private: Provides quick access to information specific to you, including your Annual Total Rewards Package, most recent pay, and absence balance.
-
Public: Displays profile information available to other employees based on their Workday security access, including job history, skills, education, and other profile details. Note: Your birthday is viewable only by your manager and the management chain; it is not visible to all employees.
Viewing Additional Jobs
If you have additional jobs, the way you toggle between them has changed. From your profile homepage, select the crossing arrows icon on the right side of the gray information box near the top of the page, beside your business title.
Please note that you can only toggle between additional jobs from your profile homepage.
Looking for the Actions button? It has moved. You can access Actions from the gray information box near the top of your profile homepage or select the three-dot icon beneath your profile photo on the left side of the screen.
3. Changes to the Change Job Task
The September Workday release introduces updated Change Job Templates designed to make common job changes easier and more efficient to process.
Most of the information needed to complete a job change now appears on a single page, rather than requiring you to move between the tabs previously displayed on the left side of the screen.
4. In Case You Missed It: Look for Workday Guidance |
Need help while completing a Workday task? Workday Guidance provides instructions and helpful tips directly within many business processes and tasks.
Look for the (?) icon as you work through a process. Selecting it displays in-the-moment guidance designed to help you complete the task, understand specific fields, and identify important information without leaving the process.
As Workday continues to evolve, additional guidance will be added and refined to support the tasks and business processes you use most.
5. Workday Learning Is Coming October 19 |
A new way to learn and grow is coming to Workday! Beginning October 19, Workday Learning will become a central hub for university training, bringing expanded professional development opportunities and required training together in one place.
As part of the transition, Workday Learning will replace training registration in myOleMiss and employee-targeted courses currently housed in Blackboard, such as Contracts Management, Accessibility, and Inclusive and Equitable Hiring Practices.
Within Workday Learning, employees may encounter several types of training:
-
Elective Training: Optional learning opportunities employees can explore based on their interests, professional development goals, or job responsibilities.
- Required-for-Access Training: Training that must be completed before an employee can receive certain system access or perform specific responsibilities, such as training associated with a Procurement Card (P-Card).
-
Required Training: University-required or compliance training assigned to employees based on university requirements, their role, or other criteria, such as annual IT Security Training.
Employees will also gain access to more than 25,000 expert-led courses through LinkedIn Learning, covering business, technology, creative skills, and more.
No action is required in advance. More information and resources will be shared as we approach the October 19 launch.
