Growing up in Tacoma, Krista Johnson always felt that Puget Sound was calling her name. After graduating from Western Washington University with an art degree, living abroad in New Zealand and Southeast Asia, going to graduate school in Los Angeles, working at MIT in Boston and in a marketing role in North Carolina, she finally found herself back in the North End embarking on a career at Puget Sound. After a five-year stint in the Department of Art and Art History, she made the switch to the Office of the Registrar in 2021. In her role as degree evaluator, Johnson helps students stay on track for graduation and fulfill all the requirements needed to earn their degree. When she’s not guiding students toward completing their time on campus, she can be found walking at Point Defiance or clearing out space in her garage for her printing press. She hopes to spend time this summer getting back into printmaking and plans to offer workshops in the future.
