The odd backstory of ‘The White and the Blue’ |
Creighton’s fight song has had a wild ride. It was written on a banjo during a late-night solo jam session. In the 1920s, alumni said it was “too combative.” By 1960, others complained it wasn’t fiery enough. And when Creighton celebrated the song’s 50th anniversary in 1976 … well, it was actually turning 52. Oops. We dove into the archives to uncover the full, somewhat curious history of the Bluejay anthem, which has endured for more than a century.

For the first time, Alan Huss addressed Bluejay Nation as the head coach of the men’s basketball program. What did he say during his introductory press conference? We compiled the highlights, including his appreciation for Creighton’s culture, his pride as an alumnus and his self-deprecating assessment of his past on-the-court skills. Here are five things we learned on Wednesday.

Celebrating the Spirit of Creighton |
“When students come back from studying abroad, they’re usually so transformed,” says Jill Muegge, Director of Study Abroad and ILAC-Omaha. With 500+ students traveling to more than 50 countries each year, Study Abroad is one of the most life-changing opportunities at Creighton — and one of the many causes you can support on Giving Day on April 14. Hear from Jill what these experiences mean for our students.
