Dear Colleagues,
After four years of dedicated service, Dr. J. Ann Moylan will be stepping down as the Director of the Community Engagement Center (CEC) effective August 22, 2024. We wish to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for her outstanding contributions and leadership during her tenure. Throughout her time as the CEC Director, Dr. Moylan has been an exemplary advocate for civic engagement, community engagement, and service learning. She launched many initiatives that helped strengthen Sacramento State’s role as a leading community-engaged institution, such as the Hornet Community Bus Tour, Network Café, and Project Jumpstart. She was a critical voice advocating for equitable opportunities by promoting paid internships for all students, regardless of their background or financial situation. Her leadership and resourcefulness were vital in helping CEC continue engaging with local non-profits, schools, businesses, and government agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Dr. Moylan embarks on the next chapter of her journey, we extend our warmest wishes for continued success and fulfillment in all her future endeavors. While we will miss her presence in the CEC offices, we take comfort in knowing that her impact will continue to resonate with us for years to come. Please join me in thanking Dr. Moylan for her dedicated service and wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.
As we transition, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Samantha Blackburn as the new Director of the Community Engagement Center. Dr. Blackburn brings a wealth of expertise and experience in nursing, education, and community health, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our team.
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Samantha Blackburn. We look forward to her leadership, innovation, and collaboration in our community engagement initiatives.
Warm regards,
Rita Gallardo-Good, Ed.D.
