A look at Parade of Dates 2025

This annual CAC tradition was held Friday, April 11. The junior class officers worked hard to create a beautiful Greek landscape on the auditorium stage for this year's Parade of Dates. Take a look at some of the highlights of the event!

Tri-Music and Art Societies

Last year CAC introduced two new honors societies to our school: Tri-M and the National Art Honors Society. These societies are in place here to honor students who excel in all different areas including fine arts. Braeden Chin, a junior, is the president of Tri-M. Cadie Moore, also a junior, is the president of the National Art Honor Society. The addition of these two societies are vital in making sure every student is celebrated for their individual talents.

“We have all these different classes, we have choir, we have band, we have piano," Braden says. "There’s all these sides of music so Tri-M is kind of like the point in the center where we all just gather and celebrate our unity in that way.”

Braden says that Tri-M is an important part of CAC because it’s a key part of bringing unity to all the musically involved students throughout the school. He says that music is significant to him because he’s always enjoyed music theory and playing piano. He loves it because it's something that you can go at your own pace and determine what your own goals are for yourself.

“It may seem daunting at first, but once you really get into it and you put in some hard work, it really starts coming naturally and it's really rewarding.”

Cadie says that the art honor society is important to have because people who love art need a space that they can feel included in and get to know other people who also share an interest in art.

“My sister loves art so much, so I've kind of just taken that passion and got to kind of curate my own passion for it, and it’s just really cool to be able to share a bond with her through art,” she says.

To people who are considering getting into art, Cadie says to just go for it. She uses a quote from Bob Ross that says, “We don’t make mistakes. We just make happy accidents.” She says that you can’t mess up art and that art gives creative freedom to do whatever you want to do with it.

Minecraft Movie: Like or not?

“The Minecraft Movie” was released on Friday, April 4. There has been a lot of recent hype surrounding this movie and as fans took to theaters to watch it over the weekend. Some of them loved it and some of them didn’t. Two sophomores, Luke Irwin and Aubrey Cheney, both had opposing views on how they thought the Minecraft movie was. Luke Irwin loved the Minecraft movie. He thought that there were some great one-liners and hilarious moments throughout the film.

One of Luke’s favorite moments was actually a tribute to the gamer Technoblade. Technoblade, the popular Minecraft YouTuber, passed away on June 30, 2022, at the age of 23, after a battle with cancer. In the movie, we see a pig with a crown (this was the character Technoblade played). When Jack Black, who plays Steve, sees it, he calls him a legend. Luke says that overall the movie had great sound effects.

“The CGI had great animation and it really didn’t look AI generated at all!” Luke says.

Luke thought that the funniest part was where there was a chicken machine that makes ‘hot lava chicken.’

“Jason Mamoa who plays the Garbage man takes a bite of the chicken and says its not hot at all, but his mouth is literally on fire.”

Luke also says that there were a few things in the movie that do not actually exist in the game Minecraft itself.

On the other side, Aubrey did not think the Minecraft movie lived up to all of the hype.

She said that the movie had lots of jokes that she didn’t feel like was landing with the older audience. She feels that the movie could have been funnier than it actually was.

Speak Up! - Lights Out

Ethan Farmer is a senior this year and recently got awarded the Editor of the Year for 1A-4A. He originally started doing yearbook with his friend Autumn Powell because “I didn’t really want to have a study hall for my first period and it sounded like something fun to fill my time.” Even though he did join for fun he found out very quickly that it was very complex and interesting. He said “I quickly found that it was a space where I could be me.” It was something that he could poue his interests and talents onto a page. He had known that he liked yearbooks but it wasn’t until he wrote his first opening that he realized he had a natural talent for writing and creativity in media. Ethan also talked about how different it was going from staff member to editor. “Being editor provides you with a much more holistic view of the book.” But being an editor, he also doesn’t write much in the book he spends a lot of time proofreading and approving the stories but also gets more involved with the photography and design aspect of the book. “One thing that you can expect from being on the yearbook staff is growth.” As an editor he got to see every small thing that got put into the yearbook. “Growth is one of the most important aspects to me.” Being editor, Ethan got to see the yearbook staff become a tight-knit community and he said “it’s one of the most heartwarming aspects of life.”
