January 2026
January 1 From the Sterling College community to you and yours...Happy New Year! May 2026 be a year that sees many drawn closer to the Lord and walk in a right relationship with Him. Thank YOU for your prayer support of the work and mission of Sterling College.

Pray for President Scott Rich as he leads Sterling College into this new year.

3 The Spires of the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS travel to SC today to take on our men's and women's Warrior basketball teams. Pray that all athletes compete to the best of their God-given talent and that the Warriors represent SC well and honor God in all ways.

4 Scripture focus: 2 Peter 3:10-11 "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives..."

5 The college is needing to replace two boilers: one in Thompson Hall and one in Spencer Hall. Ask the Lord to please provide the needed resources.

Pray for our transfer students that will join our family this semester. Transitions are hard, and it can be challenging to dive in “midstream.” Pray for our campus community to be welcoming and helpful to these students.

7 Pray that prospective students will be encouraged by alumni across the country to check out Sterling College.

8 Thank the Lord that His love for us is unfathomable, unsearchable, and unchanging. Thanks be to God!

Pray for our seniors who will be beginning their last semester at Sterling College. Pray that God will help them finish well and that He will prepare their hearts for the next chapter in their lives.

12 Pray that every need of the college will be met by God's abounding riches and generosity.

13 Classes begin today for the Spring semester. Pray for all faculty and students that the next four months will be filled with daily victories in both teaching and learning.

14 Several Sterling College students will be student teaching this semester. Pray that they will enjoy this aspect of their education as they continue to learn how to be effective educators.

15 Today, lift up Board of Trustees member, Peter Teague '73, as he celebrates his birthday. Thank the Lord for Peter and his commitment to serve Sterling College.

18 Scripture focus: Hebrews 12:1 & 2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

19 Scott Rich has faithfully served Sterling College for almost 14 years. Thank God for Scott's commitment and Christ-focused leadership. Ask the Lord to deeply bless him.

20 Pray for Dr. Jennifer Bolton, Assistant Professor of Theology and Christian Thought. She and her husband, Jack, both serve our students in the classroom.
