SAFETY ZONE

Spring Skiing & Riding

Here are some safety tips when working in warmer weather:

  • Treat Every Run Like New – Stop and reassess conditions before every run.
  • Get Technical – Be deliberate with your turns and keep your feet strong and equally weighted
  • Watch Your Edges and Ride Mellow – Keep your weight centered when riding slush and flex your core to help your balance.
  • Speaking of edges, tune up your equipment. Your skis and boards are the tools you need to do your job well, so take care of them.
  • You’ve heard this one before – Stay hydrated! Higher temps and working with heavier snow lead to dehydration.
  • Maintain a bubble – Keep yourself safe by avoiding popular egress routes, make sure you have an “out,” and watch out for each other.

GUEST COMMENTS

Below are a few of the many guest comments we’ve received, we’ll continue to share these accolades weekly!

  • "This is my 5th season returning to Beaver Creek. It is my favorite snowboarding destination. Day 1 was with Jacob Huffman and day 2 was with Tomi Hearn. Both were excellent instructors and helped me improve my snowboarding significantly. I look forward to returning next season."
  • "We have skied for a number of years with Tom Newmann who is just an absolutely amazing instructor and human being."
  • "Randy Pelton from ski school made going up the mountain as an adult beginner easy!"
  • "This was my first time skiing and I went with my family... The biggest reason for me wanting to return was my ski instructor William Day. He was amazing! I learned so much from him and in just two days I went from total beginner to almost level 5. He was incredibly attentive and patient. Cannot speak more highly of him!"
