United Methodist Women of Wellspring

              Save the Date!

On Palm Sunday, March 29th the United Women of Faith (UWF) Women of Wellspring (WOW) will hold its springtime potluck luncheon at noon following the 11 am church service. Wellspring women, their guests, and our youth are all invited to attend as we share a meal and celebrate springtime and Easter! Our special speakers will be Bob & Kelly Kalka from First UMC, who will share the success of their Quail Valley Neighborhood Ministry. As we consider Wellspring’s future relationship with Cooper Elementary School, we can look to this successful program for guidance in our own outreach endeavors. You are invited to come share your faith with other Women of Wellspring and their guests. There will be food, fellowship, fun --- and door prizes!! Questions: please contact Cathy Wyman (cdkwyman@gmail.com). All are welcome!

Join us this Holy Week at Wellspring!

Palm Sunday
Sunday, March 29
Regular traditional and contemporary worship services marking Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and utilizing palm branches in worship. "Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!"

Maundy Thursday
Thursday, April 2
7:00 p.m.
Join us in person for our Interactive Maundy Thursday Service. We will engage in experiential worship at stations as we remember the last night Jesus shared with his disciples before he died.

For those who only worship online, please have on hand bread and juice, or whatever represents the body and blood of Christ for you, along with water in a bowl.

Good Friday
Friday, April 3
7:00 p.m.
Our Tenebrae Service of Darkness is a longstanding tradition at Wellspring, in which we read the scriptures telling how Jesus was crucified. As we do so, we extinguish candles to signify the deep darkness of the Lord's suffering. We will have worship online and in person.

Sunday, April 5 - Easter Sunday
Easter is a day when many people who don't worship regularly consider attending church. So it’s a great opportunity to tell someone you know about Wellspring by inviting a neighbor to church, sharing the LiveStream on social media, or telling a nearby family about our growing children and youth programs. We’ll be finishing our series on spiritual practices. Come and celebrate the Risen Lord!

Front Door Greeters Needed

We are looking for friendly volunteers to serve as Front Door Greeters on Sunday mornings before the 11:00am worship service. Greeters help open the doors, offer a warm welcome, and make sure everyone who comes to church feels seen and valued.

If you enjoy meeting people and helping create a welcoming atmosphere, this is a simple but meaningful way to serve at Wellspring. Even serving once every few weeks can make a big difference.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Frank Jacks Jr, jacksf@wellumc.org.

As the senior nutrition program for Williamson and Burnet Counties, we provide hot, nutritious noontime meals to local seniors in need Monday through Friday. We achieve this by delivering meals to homebound seniors.  One of the goals of our home delivered meals, provided 5 days a week, 52-weeks a year, is to enable seniors to remain living independently for as long as possible. Meals are delivered by caring volunteers that offer a human connection for seniors who are often isolated and lonely. For many seniors, these volunteers may be the only people they see on a consistent basis. Therefore, volunteers also provide a daily wellness check and can alert staff to any concerns they may have.

Wellspring UMC and San Gabriel Presbyterian partner to take one complete week every nine weeks. The other eight weeks are covered by other churches and groups. Meals are prepared at the Madella Hilliard Neighborhood Center, located at 803 West 8th St.   Meals are ready by 10:15 AM for delivery.  Most of the routes take about an hour to deliver.  There are 15 Georgetown routes serving 200+ clients with food delivery 5 days a week.

Wellspring and San Gabriel need to increase the number of volunteers participating in this ministry. Some drive every day during the week we are assigned. Some can only drive one day. We are very flexible in using you whenever it fits your schedule. You are welcome to contact Wellspring regular drivers for more information by contacting Wellspring volunteer coordinator noted below.

Hearts Transformed Class, Rm 203, 2nd Floor
This class studies the weekly worship sermon...
“The Rehumanizing Power of Love” (lent wk 5)
John 11:1-45
You can be resurrected, reanimated. But ultimately, the whole community can and will be resurrected, reanimated. In a world where we experience dehumanization (which we lament), we are called to the task of re-humanization. Of helping our communities find flesh and spirit where there are only bones and hopelessness. And that task, as we see in John’s gospel, is finally one that we are invited to participate in as Jesus calls us to “unbind him, let him go.”

“Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi” by Amy-Jill Levine. This study is a fresh look at several parables of Jesus through the prospective of the original listeners of these stories and how they would have understood them.  Contact: Clark Meier (clark@themeiers.us)

Journey with Joy, Rm 204 (Chapel), 2nd Floor
“Why Did Jesus Have to Die? The Meaning of the Crucifixion” by Adam Hamilton
Despite the crucifixion’s central place in Christian faith, the New Testament offers few clear answers about how Jesus’ death saves, or why, exactly, he had to die. The New Testament writers use a host of metaphors but never explain exactly how it works or why it had to happen this way. Books are $21 and available in the classroom.
