In cardiovascular medicine, preventing dangerous blood clots without increasing bleeding risk has long been a scientific “holy grail.” This February, we highlight two inventors rising to that challenge, Fatima Alshbool, PharmD, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Fadi Khasawneh, Ph.D., Professor and Department Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in the Texas A&M University Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy located in Kingsville, whose pioneering work has led to a novel vaccine designed to prevent thrombosis, a leading cause of heart attack and stroke. On January 22, 2026, Plug and Play hosted the Innovation Triangle Batch 2 Expo, bringing together founders, investors, industry leaders, and government partners to celebrate the progress of startups participating in its Aerospace & Defense accelerator program. Leadership of the Texas A&M Innovation team participated in the event in support of the growing Innovation Triangle ecosystem. A notable highlight was Harmony Aeronautics, led by Dr. Moble Benedict, a Texas-based, early-stage startup accepted into the Innovation Triangle Batch 2 Accelerator Program. Read more.

TEXAS A&M INNOVATION RELEASES 2025 ANNUAL REPORT
|
Texas A&M Innovation has released its 2025 Annual Report, celebrating a year marked by increased activity in research commercialization, expanded inventor engagement, and the beginnings of a new team to support startups across The Texas A&M University System.
The report provides a recap of the office’s second full year of operations as a System-wide office, including information on licensing and metrics successes and multiple initiatives that have started to deliver early positive results.

This month, we’re excited to shine our team member spotlight on Amy Nesmith, Administrative Associate IV at Texas A&M Innovation. Amy brings nearly two decades of administrative excellence to our team, providing high-level support across a broad range of operational and administrative functions. Her organizational skills, attention to detail, and positive, can-do attitude help ensure that our team stays coordinated, informed, and ready to support the innovators across The Texas A&M System. When she’s not at work, Amy enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her family. She lives in College Station with her husband and two children and loves raising her family in the Bryan–College Station community.
