The second quarter of 2024 brought opportunities for learning from each other and sharing MISHC data nationally. The
State of Michigan recognized MISHC and BMC2 PCI and Vascular Surgery for our collective “innovative spirit and unwavering dedication as pioneers in cardiovascular care”
via a special tribute.

This month, we said goodbye to Annemarie Forrest. Annemarie served MISHC with attentive and innovative leadership and the consortium has flourished during the four years she was with us. We wish her the best as she begins her new role. We are also welcoming Alondra Dorsey, who joins MISHC to work alongside Clinical Quality Improvement Lead, Sheryl Fielding.
We are grateful for the dedication each of you contributes to the patients we serve and look forward to continued partnership and exciting new initiatives in the second half of the year.

The team at University of Michigan Health – Sparrow Lansing decreased vascular complications to 0% in 2022 and 0.8% in 2023. This also resulted in a length of stay of a mean of 1 day in 2023. Read our blog to learn how they used education and meticulous planning to not only accomplish this improvement, but achieve a 0% mortality rate over the last three years.

The State of Michigan recognized BMC2 - under which MISHC is one of 3 quality consortia - as a pioneer of excellence in cardiovascular care in a special tribute. The tribute calls BMC2 “a trailblazing collaborative dedicated to elevating cardiovascular care in Michigan and beyond” and stated that BMC2's transformative work has significantly enhanced patient outcomes and influenced healthcare practices worldwide. Welcome Alondra Dorsey! - Alondra Dorsey joins MISHC as a clinical information analyst senior. She will work alongside Clinical Quality Improvement Lead, Sheryl Fielding, to develop MISHC reports, registry and VBR goals, educational meetings, and relevant tools for our participating sites for quality improvement. Through chart reviews and site visits, she will work to ensure MISHC sites meet all CMS and TVT requirements. Learn more about Alondra on our blog.

Annemarie shared, "I have learned so much from you and the excellent work you are doing to improve the quality of cardiovascular care in Michigan.
