Taylor W. Randle, DPT '15 |
|
|
“Things may not always go our way at first, but with humility, agility and grace, you will find yourself where you want to be.” These words can deeply resonate with students entering university with clear visions of their future, reminding them that growth often comes through unexpected paths. For Taylor Randle ’15, his humility and grace led him down a very unexpected path that was eagerly welcomed.
From a young age, Randle hoped to find a career within the world of professional sports, but the idea of starting his own practice didn’t occur to him until he started his studies at UIW back in 2012, as part of the inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy program. During his three years at UIW, Randle had unique experiences with staff and classmates as they navigated this new, exciting and sometimes even nerve-wracking, new program. The journey was not easy, though the challenges he faced came with lifelong friendships and bonds that Randle continues to carry with him today.
Randle now serves as a proud Physical Therapist on the Human and Player Performance Staff for the Oklahoma City Thunder. When he received the offer, Randle knew this was not only an opportunity of a lifetime, but also a childhood dream coming true. Making the move to Oklahoma City was no easy decision, as Randle struggled with leaving a clinic that he had just helped open less than 12 months earlier. However, after prayerful consideration, he decided the transition to the NBA was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. In the years since joining the Thunder, Randle has focused on delivering high-level care to his patients as a highly trained manual and orthopedic specialist. Seeing the players' developments over the years has been fulfilling for Randle to witness and experience.
Off the court, Randle is an avid music, art and sports fan. When work and travel do not occupy his time, you can find Randle at a concert, festival, sports game or gallery. With such a demanding career, Randle relies on the quality time spent with family, friends and his dog, Winston, to keep him grounded.
If Randle could give one piece of advice to current Cardinals, it would be this: “Stay the course- perfect your craft and stay ready. Taking the quickest route becomes much more enticing than doing the work. Take on the challenge- learn from your triumphs and mistakes along the way. It truly is about the journey.”
