This Month’s Topic: Life After Vanderbilt

Our students’ pathway to an internship or landing that first job is very different from the one many of us took. This month’s article focuses on how our students prepare for this part of college life. Read on for insights from alumni and parents that are taking an active role in helping our students with internships and jobs. We will also reference the university’s on-campus resources. Perhaps these insights can help guide your dialogue when speaking to your student or other students at Vanderbilt about this topic.

Cleaning out your closet? We want your professional attire!

Help launch Vanderbilt’s new Commodore Closet initiative led by the Vanderbilt Career Center and Vanderbilt Student Government. This initiative aims to provide professional attire for students in need and expand the reach that the Career Center’s gift card program has already provided for students.
We are looking for gently used clothing, so our students have a diverse selection as we head into spring recruiting season. We will take slacks, blazers, dress shoes, belts, ties, blouses, dresses, skirts, polos, and button-downs. The Commodore Closet space will open in February 2024.
We will collect donations until Feb. 1.
Career Center representatives will be available starting Jan. 5 to coordinate drop-off details. We also welcome packages by ordering from this Amazon Wishlist
Thank you for your help in providing professional attire to all students at Vanderbilt University.
