Dear Paige,
Every new student has something in common before arriving on campus: The Campus Reading. The Campus Reading is a text that all students must read prior to move-in. This reading assignment forms the basis for a community-wide dialogue during orientation.
This year’s Campus Reading is Now is Not the Time to Panic by Kevin Williams. As you have an international mailing address, the Campus Reading and supporting materials are available to you digitally.
Access the e-book here
(Note that you will need to login using your Vanderbilt credentials. The book can be checked out for 21 days at a time, though you may check the book out as many times as you need through the conclusion of orientation.)
If you would prefer to listen to the book, you can access the audiobook instead.
Before you read the book, please review the following:
To support your reading experience, the English Language Center has prepared a supplement to the book. This supplement is designed to assist you in reading texts about unfamiliar topics, internalizing relevant themes from the book, and engaging more fully in campus-wide conversations about the book. You can access the supplement online.
If you have any questions or concerns about the reading or the assignment, email campus.reading@vanderbilt.edu.
