At WashU, you are never alone and our family is living proof of how this unique operation, initiated by APAP, has never stopped providing us with resources and comfort as we have entered this unfamiliar territory of undergraduate education. As the tables have turned, we are now the ones offering hospitality, transparency, and a listening ear to parents via telephone. Now we are sitting alongside these same parents at sporting events, watching a student presentation, and taking pictures for parents who could not attend, and even connecting students with each other as they ride back to campus after breaks. Getting to know each family, helping to navigate their needs, has afforded us opportunities beyond the phone call to form new WashU friendships. This calling program bridges gaps on the path from parent to child. Becoming a student who helps other students is enhanced by one phone call. This starts the cycle of giving. This is one distinction WashU has among many. Parents continue to be an integral part of the process. We pride ourselves on the continuity of the relationships we have formed through the APAP program. We hope to spread the collaboration, empathy, and excitement for WashU that we have experienced, wherever we go. You never know if you are sitting in a chair next to a possible past or present WashU Bear.
We would love for everyone to take part in this unique opportunity that was instrumental in our daughter’s college decision. We are proud parents of Sarah, Arts & Sciences, Class of 2026, and honored to be a part of the APAP Executive Board.
