Vincent Spezzo

Driving Innovation in Distance Education

Vincent Spezzo, the Center’s assistant director of Teaching and Learning Online, has been awarded the Wagner Distance Education Leadership Award from the Distance Learning Administration (DLA). This award recognizes individuals who have “embraced and significantly impacted distance education and distance learning practices,” two traits that characterize Spezzo’s work at Georgia Tech and beyond. “I am truly honored and humbled to be this year's Wagner Award winner for Distance Education Leadership," said Spezzo. Faculty Teaching and Learning Forum: Mid-Semester Feedback

Teaching with Technology Roundtable: Web Accessibility & Canvas

Sept. 11, 10-11 a.m., Clough 466A or Zoom

During this roundtable, we'll discuss the new Department of Justice web accessibility rule and how it impacts Canvas course content at Georgia Tech. We’ll explore Universal Design for Learning principles that help us better support learning for all students. Roundtables are casual, faculty-led discussions about relevant campus technologies with pedagogical insights.

Cultivating a Growth Mindset

This workshop explores how students experience failure in the classroom and how instructors can respond in ways that foster growth, resilience, and meaningful learning. We'll introduce practical instructional strategies across three areas - communication, feedback, and assessment - that help shift students’ perceptions of failure from threat to opportunity.

How Learning Works

Our teaching workshop series kicks off in September! We'll start by exploring how learners acquire, remember, and apply information. While the difference in knowledge between instructors and students can make teaching and learning difficult, understanding how learning works helps bridge the divide between experts and novice learners.

Join the College of Lifetime Learning's Learning Systems team as they showcase H5P, a user-friendly web tool that empowers instructors to create interactive experiences. With H5P, instructors can easily create and publish more than 50 content types including games, quizzes, and interactive videos directly from a Canvas course.
