High School Students are Invited to Explore Cybersecurity with UO's NICE Project
|
The University of Oregon’s Nurturing Inclusive Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Project offers several free opportunities for Oregon high schools to introduce students to the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity.
Through the NICE Project, UO partners with schools to provide engaging, hands-on experiences that help students learn about cybersecurity concepts, career pathways, and college opportunities in this exciting field.
Opportunities for teachers, students, and schools include:

In-School Field Trips - Engaging, interactive classroom presentations

Customized UO Campus Tours - To help foster belonging and connection to higher education

Train the Trainer - Learn to teach the RING curriculum course with confidence with this in-person workshop is scheduled June 22-26, 2026. Teachers receive a stipend, meals and, if eligible, lodging.

Registration is Open for This Summer's Cyber Camps for High Schoolers
|
|
|
|
A generous donation from the Xie Foundation enables OCCoE to offer three tuition-free cybersecurity camps to Oregon youth again this summer. NW Cyber Camp is accepting applications from current 8th - 11th graders for free, weeklong programs at three host sites:

- University of Oregon, July 20-24, 2026
- Clackamas Community College, August 3-6, 2026
- Portland Community College, August 3-7, 2026

The Oregon State University STEM Academy is offering middle and high school cybersecurity camps in Corvallis this July. Find the dates, costs, scholarship application, and registration form at stemacademy.oregonstate.edu.
Additional sponsorships can help deliver the program to other parts of the state. Look out for our announcements for PSU's Day of Giving April 15th as one way to support, or email occoe@pdx.edu if your company is interested in sponsoring a camp this year!

OCCoE is offering another online Introduction to Cybersecurity Mini-Course for all tribal members or employees of tribes in Oregon, with or without backgrounds in cybersecurity! Please see blurb below and share with anyone who might be interested:
Prepare to protect your digital life by attending our upcoming Introduction to Cybersecurity Mini-Course. This free, four-week online course offers personal instruction to cover the essential fundamentals of digital defense and safety. Attendees will receive a certificate for course completion and may be eligible for a stipend for completing the program.
Course dates: 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26 from 12p-1:30p

OCCoE's K12 team challenged students to use a Caesar Cipher Wheel to decrypt coded messages at their booth which promoted cybersecurity career opportunities and NW Cyber Camp’s summer programs.
