The safety and well-being of our campus community is a shared responsibility. An important part of that responsibility is ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have access to clear, timely information about campus safety, available resources, prevention efforts, emergency preparedness, and policies designed to support a safe learning and working environment. The reports below provide important information about safety and security at San José State University, including crime and fire statistics, emergency procedures, prevention programs, and resources available to members of our community. We encourage you to review these materials and become familiar with the information and resources they contain.
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, the 2026 Annual Security Report (ASR) is now available for review. The ASR contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and information about drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery crimes for San José State University locations for 2023-2025.
This information is important because it helps our community understand the types of incidents reported on and around our campuses, the steps SJSU takes to prevent and respond to safety concerns, and the resources available when assistance is needed. Awareness of these policies, procedures, and resources helps each of us make informed decisions and contributes to a safer campus environment. Pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the 2026 Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR) is now available for review. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within SJSU Main Campus housing facilities for 2023-2025, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. Familiarity with fire prevention measures, emergency procedures and available resources can help members of our residential community respond appropriately during an emergency and reduce risks before an incident occurs.
