What's Happening in Community Engagement

November 2022

Giving Tuesday

The Center for Women and Gender Equity and the University want to end food insecurity on campus. More than 1,000 Grand Valley students struggle with food insecurity each year. This Giving Tuesday, November 29th, the entire GVSU community is rallying around the Replenish Student Food Resource Fund to support students facing food insecurity.

Save the date!

After a 3 year hiatus the Civic Engagement Showcase will return Thursday April 6, 2023 from 4:00-7:30pm in Hager-Lubbers Exhibition Hall on the downtown GVSU Pew Campus. The Civic Engagement Showcase seeks to celebrate the many civic and community partnerships, programs and initiatives that are ongoing or may have happened over the past 3 years. The goal of this unique celebration is to once again bring faculty, staff, students and community partners together to share, discuss and inform each other of our engaged work.
Details for submitting exhibitor proposals will be shared in January, 2023.
If you are interested in serving on a committee to assist in the planning and development of the 2023 Civic Engagement Showcase please reach out to Travus Burton, burtotra@gvsu.edu.

Add the CBL designation to your course!

Do you teach a course that works with community partners or community issues? If yes, the CBL course designation is a great way to make these opportunities more visible for students who are eager to make new connections and make a positive impact in the greater community.

The process to obtain a CBL course section designation is now easier than ever, visit the new Community Based Learning website for details. For assistance or questions regarding CBL proposal development, course design and/or implementation, please contact, Travus Burton,burtotra@gvsu.edu.
