Join for a unique workshop designed to help you make the most of your break, academically and mentally. Cheleia Marshall, a health educator with HERO, will be there to lead a discussion about how to stay academically engaged while also prioritizing your self-care and well-being. She will also discuss the importance of maintaining the healthy habits, routines, and relationships you have created during your first semester. 

 

Pillow Sewing Art Workshop

Poetry Reading: Brandon Kilbourne and ‘Natural History’

A research biologist most recently at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, Brandon Kilbourne illuminates the intersections between science and poetry in poems that demonstrate the wonder, curiosity, and precision required by both disciplines.

Belonging @ KU: Exploring Disability & Identities

Join the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, for the next installment of the Belonging @ KU series. This panel of KU experts will explore disability identity and the intersection of disability with other identities, accessibility, and more. Attendees will discover opportunities for engagement and learn about resources available on the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. No Such Thing As Bad Design

Titus Smith  is a seasoned UI/UX designer and the founder of The Hideout®, a design consultancy based in the Vinland valley outside Lawrence, Kansas. Currently, he leverages this real-world history to shape the next generation of talent as a design instructor at KU, while simultaneously leading The Hideout® in delivering impactful, user-centered solutions for clients.

Interior Architecture 2025 ALC Senior Living Design Scholarship

The Ageless Living Collaborative (ALC) is pleased to open applications for the 2025 ALC Senior Living Design Scholarship. Sponsored by Samuelson Furniture, this scholarship aims to support students who are passionate about designing environments that enhance the lives of older adults.

We’re awarding two scholarships of $5,000 each to exceptional interior design students who demonstrate commitment, creativity, and care for aging populations.

Scholarship applies to: Spring Semester 2026 tuition (funds paid directly to recipient’s institution)

SMITHGROUP Design A Better Future Scholarship 

We created the SmithGroup Design a Better Future scholarship program to put action to our mission to create a better future for our communities. This scholarship program provides tuition assistance and professional opportunities to students who demonstrate commitment to advancing inclusion in the design industry. Each year, five students who demonstrate a commitment to advancing an inclusive design industry are selected to receive a one-time award of $6,000 in tuition support. Recipients selected also receive a paid summer internship at any one of SmithGroup’s locations offering the student’s discipline (internship is a program requirement).

AIA Kansas 2025 College Scholarship

AIA Kansas will be offering two $1000 scholarships for 2025. There will be one scholarship offered to one architect student at KU. The funds will be awarded for the Spring 2026 semester.

Hart Howerton Travel Fellowship 

Named by Architectural Digest as “one of the Fellowship programs paving the way for the future of architecture,” the Hart Howerton Fellowship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design who will be entering their final year of study. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Fellowship, celebrating two decades of supporting future design leaders. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue independent travel and research on a topic of their choice alongside a summer internship in Hart Howerton’s New York or San Francisco office.

🌾 As Grass Grows – Ten Years at Prairieside Outpost | Leedy-Voulkos Art Center

Through November 21

As Grass Grows: Ten Years at Prairieside Outpost is a group exhibition commemorating the first ten years of the Artist-in-Residence program at Prairieside Outpost in Matfield Green, Kansas. The exhibition features 28 visual artists and writers from across North America, including Photography professor Lilly McElroy. Each artist featured has worked on their creative endeavors in the remote and head-clearing expanse that is the Kansas Flint Hills.

 

🌊 Soundings: Making Culture at Sea | Spencer Museum 

Through December 14

Soundings: Making Culture at Sea explores how visual representations of oceans from different times and places across history have helped humans articulate questions and concerns that are political, cultural, and environmental.

 

➿ My Mother's Tongue Ties Me Together | Spencer Museum 

Through January 4

The Spencer Museum of Art is honored to host the Charlotte Street Visual Artist Awards exhibition for the first time featuring the selected artists for 2025: Noelle Choy, Hùng Lê, and Merry Sun. All three artists explore themes of cultural mythmaking, memory, and migration through a range of media.
