Dear colleagues,
Welcome to the first Workday newsletter! It has been an exciting spring for the Workday project team as a selection committee interviewed and selected the implementation partner that we will work with to modernize W&M's Enterprise Resource Planning platform with Workday.
We invite you to read through this newsletter to learn about some of the work that has been done this spring. We look forward to the official project kickoff in July!

We are excited to announce that the primary contract for the ERP Implementation Partner was signed and awarded to Huron Consulting Services LLC. Huron has a track record of successful Workday implementations within higher education, and they will work directly with W&M to implement the Finance and Human Resources Workday modules.

Our steering committee members will also serve as our Workday change network, consisting of representatives from across campus identified to provide bi-directional communication and feedback to stakeholder groups in their areas.

This spring Dr. Tracy Johnson-Hall, clinical associate professor for the Mason School of Business, facilitated a Lean Six-Sigma training session for 30 members of the Workday Steering Committee. The seminar was both humorous and informative for team members seeking to enhance their process improvement skills and drive operational excellence within their teams. The group identified and mapped out processes that spanned multiple business units including student hiring, full-time employee hiring, and employee transfers between departments. Dr. Johnson-Hall continues to advise the project team on efficiencies and process improvements throughout the project.

Their efforts have ensured a smooth and efficient start to the project, as well as securing the best value and quality for the university. We are grateful for their dedication and collaboration in this transformational project.

| Phase I – Readiness Phase Launch |
The first phase of the project – the readiness phase – launched on June 25th. Roughly 90 members of the project team gathered in person and virtually to learn about project governance, discuss the project timeline, and talk through project logistics. The Huron project team joined the launch to unpack the different phases of the project. The readiness phase will wrap up at the end of July and the architect and configure stage will begin.
