In this hands-on workshop, PhD Student Efrat Ayalon will explore key principles for creating clear, compelling slide visuals that serve as the foundation of effective presentations. She will focus on how thoughtful visualization can sharpen your message and guide audience attention.
|
|
|
From there, Efrat will transition into story development: workshopping the narrative you want to tell in a presentation and how to align your slide design with your core message. Whether you’re preparing for a research talk or a class presentation, this session will help you craft presentations that resonate. Pizza lunch will be provided.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Senior Summit Poster Session |

This summer, Vanderbilt’s Programs for Talented Youth has been selected to host the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Young Scholars Senior Summit, a two-week residential program for 57 high-achieving high school seniors from across the US.
As part of the experience, students engage in inquiry-based research and creative projects under the guidance of university mentors. Two members of the LIVE community are serving as course facilitators this year:
Vishesh Kumar, PhD, is leading Sensors, Data, and AI in Movement: Creating Sports and Health Technologies to Use the Body
Camille Msall, PhD student, is leading Unlocking the Human Experience: Psychology Research Through Inquiry and Discovery
The Senior Summit program will conclude with a poster session on Sunday, July 21, from 1:00–3:00 PM, where students will showcase their final projects. All are welcome to stop by and explore the impressive work these exceptional scholars have developed over the course of the program.

LIVE MATHia Data Science Challenge Final Presentations |

The MATHia Math and Metacognition Data Science Challenge launched on June 2 with 21 students working in seven interdisciplinary teams. Ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates, participants are building predictive models using data from the MATHia digital learning platform to analyze outcomes related to math knowledge, motivation, and metacognitive skills.

On Wednesday, July 31st, the seven teams will present their final predictive models to a panel of judges. During the presentations, students will share their modeling process, explain how their models function, and discuss potential applications for edtech platforms and educators. The presentations will be open to the public, please register below to receive the Zoom link. Final competition results will be announced on August 1st.
