With Small Business Saturday approaching, UW-Whitewater recognizes Studio 84, a nonprofit art studio, gallery, and store in downtown Whitewater that offers fully accessible opportunities in the arts to enrich people of all ages and abilities. Chancellor Corey King and Willie Warhawk recently visited the studio and met artists, staff and board members — many with Warhawk ties — to celebrate a shared mission of accessibility and check out some of the giftable items they offer.

Get your football fix after your Thanksgiving feast at Perkins Stadium this Saturday, Nov. 29, as the UW-Whitewater football team hosts DePauw (Indiana) at noon. The second-round game of the NCAA Division III Championship will also stream live for ESPN+ subscribers.

A total of 16 students at UW-Whitewater were recognized at the annual Juried Student Art Exhibition at the university's Crossman Gallery in October.

Kudos to Amy Barth, associate professor of counselor education, who received the Outstanding Supervisor Award at the annual 2025 Wisconsin Counseling Association conference. She also presented a session, "Why is self-care so important? Understanding the neurobiology behind self-care.”

Kudos to A. Bill Miller, associate professor of art and design, who presented “Oscillana_01” in the UW-Stout School of Art and Design’s 60th anniversary Alumni Invitational Exhibition on Oct. 10-11. The work, which was created with motion-capture animation produced in UW-Whitewater’s Motion Capture Studio and 3D prints made in the College of Arts and Communication’s Arts Media Center, also featured music by Jeff Herriott, professor of music. It explores the transformation of human movement into data-driven visual and sculptural forms.

Calvin Caforio, a student in the university’s L.I.F.E. program from Elmhurst, Illinois, starred in “Apple Juice with No Ice,” a short film directed by his sister, Jillian Caforio, that explores the relationship between a character with a disability and a peer from his school and the friendship that develops between them. The film recently premiered at the 17th Annual Lady Filmmakers Festival, where Calvin received the Best Supporting Actor award. View the trailer »

Are you graduating this December? Pick up your commencement tickets in advance until Dec. 12 at One Stop between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed Thanksgiving Day). Graduating students can take up to seven tickets, and children younger than 2 years old are not required to have a ticket for admission to the ceremony. Alum Stephanie Staszak making high impact on theatre community

Stephanie Staszak earned a BFA in theatre in 2013 and was hired before graduation working with high school and community theatre productions. For the last decade-plus, Stephanie has shared her talents in choreography, dance, theatre, teaching and more all over the Milwaukee area.
