March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the trailblazers whose vision, courage, and leadership have shaped our world, including, our own namesake, Fanny Jackson Coppin. A true pioneer in education, Fanny Jackson Coppin dedicated her life to empowering others through knowledge and opportunity, breaking barriers as one of the first Black women to lead an educational institution. Her legacy continues to inspire Coppin State University as we uphold the values of excellence, service, and resilience.
This year, the National Women’s History Alliance has announced the 2025 theme: “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.” This theme reflects the vital role women play in shaping the future through education, mentorship, and leadership.
At Coppin, we celebrate the countless women—faculty, staff, students, and alumni—who follow in Fanny Jackson Coppin’s footsteps, as they make an impact in education, business, healthcare, and beyond. Their achievements remind us that when women lead, entire communities thrive.
Join us as we commemorate Women’s History Month with a forum that recognizes the power of women’s contributions—past, present, and future.
