Dr. Xiaoming Zhai will highlight the transformative potential of AI in revolutionizing science education. His talk will explore the integration of AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI to assess and promote three-dimensional science learning aligned with Next Generation Science Standards. Addressing challenges in traditional assessment methods, Dr. Zhai will emphasize AI's role in enabling efficient, scalable, and equitable assessment practices, providing timely and actionable feedback to students and teachers. He will also introduce frameworks and practical applications for adaptive learning, automatic scoring, and culturally responsive assessments while outlining a forward-looking research agenda to advance AI's impact in STEM education. The talk will underscore the urgency of embracing AI as a collaborative partner in classrooms, aiming to inspire educators and students while fostering equitable and inclusive learning environments.
Pizza will be provided. From 1-1:30pm following his talk, Dr. Zhai will be available for an open conversation to chat and answer any questions from the LIVE community.

Digital Lab Spring 2025 Python Workshops |

This spring, the Library's Digital Lab will be hosting a series of four biweekly lessons to teach the basics of the Python programming language. No prior coding experience is required. Starting on January 14th, the lessons will meet every other Tuesday afternoon from 2:45 to 4pm in the Digital Lab classroom. All undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty/staff are welcome to attend.
