The Recruiter-in-Residence program offers KU students the chance to meet one-on-one with an industry professional to learn about careers and expand their networks. A representative from Spotlight will be available for consultations. As the world’s largest analyst relations consultancy, Spotlight offers proven methodologies, purpose-built technology and proprietary data that help clients. They have open internships in client team projects and graphic design. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, get career advice, and learn more about Spotlight and analyst relations careers in general.

KU Illustration Club Meeting

The purpose of the KU Illustration Club is to create a welcoming environment that encourages curiosity, determination, and creative problem-solving. This club will provide students with resources that expand their education in the School of Design and create relationships with local Lawrence businesses. These resources will include visits to museums to study contemporary and historical artwork, professional studio visits, attending national illustration and animation conferences, portfolio review and development, and fostering uplifting interpersonal relationships with peers that carry on into professional careers.

| KU Design Professional Lecture Series: Matthias Pliessnig

Matthias Pliessnig is a furniture designer whose work employs computer-aided fabrication and handcraft to create expressively sculptural chairs and benches primarily with steam-bent wood strips. Pliessnig’s work has been exhibited and collected by the Museum of Art and Design in New York and the Smithsonian American Museum and featured in publications that include Architectural Record, Dwell, Forbes, and Interior Design.

LibArt: Student Art in the Libraries
LibArt: Student Art in the Libraries is a year-long juried exhibition organized and sponsored by KU Libraries. Students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to submit their artwork for a chance to exhibit their work inside the libraries’ public spaces and win cash awards totaling $5,000.

The 2026 AIA National Photography Competition
The competition is open to all architects and architectural students across the country. Top-awarded photographs receive a cash prize and included is the Student Award, specifically awarded to an entry from architectural student photographer. Architectural Record is the Media Sponsor of the competition, and they announce all the recognized images nationally and display the top-awarded photographs at their booth at the AIA National Conference, which will take place in San Diego this coming year.

BWBR Portfolio Scholarship
BWBR is offering a $2,500 portfolio scholarship to 4th and 5th year students in a NAAB-accredited architectural program. Students should submit a completed application form along with their portfolio.

Springfield Area Foundation for Architecture Scholarship
Administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, applications are open for the 2026–2027 academic year. This scholarship awards a $900.00 scholarship for an undergraduate student entering third, fourth, or fifth year in Architecture. Must have GPA of 3.0 or above; submit transcript. Must submit a copy of driver's license, demonstrate financial need; submit FAFSA-SAI. Portfolio & Essay required.

| Chicago Committee of High Rise Buildings (CCHRB) Scholarship
The CCHRB funds an annual scholarship program to support eligible students at any college or university program, with an alumnus who serves as a member of the committee. Areas of study which qualify include, but are not necessarily limited to architecture, engineering, construction management, and real estate. Graduate students are eligible; highly qualified senior and junior-level undergraduate students are also encouraged to apply. You must have at least one, and preferably two, semesters remaining.

Kansas City Architectural Foundation Scholarship
Kansas City Architectural Foundation awards more than $50,000 a year in scholarships to metro-area students pursuing a degree in architecture. Applications are due each spring and awarded at an annual ceremony in August. Scholarship application is posted on this page each year. These scholarships are funded through contributions to KCAF from generous companies, individuals, and organizations.

The AIA St. Louis Scholarship Fund
The AIA St. Louis Scholarship Fund offers opportunities for students that are born or raised in the AIA St. Louis region and are studying architecture in their third, fourth, fifth year or performing graduate work at an NAAB accredited school of architecture (the University may be located anywhere in the US). Students will be asked to complete and application and if they meet the criteria, we will contact them to schedule a personal interview between the applicant and the Scholarship Fund Committee.

KUltura Zine - Open Call for Submissions
ArcD’s student led KUltura Initiative is now accepting work for its first test print. All students and staff in the School of Architecture & Design are invited to submit ideas, research, creative projects, writing, or any other type of media that contributes to ongoing conversations in architecture and design. KUltura aims to highlight student perspectives, build a collaborative network across the school, and offer an accessible space for sharing work and engaging in informal publication and critique beyond the studio.
The theme for this inaugural issue is “Beginning.”

Design Camp Assistant Position

KU Design Camp is a pre-college summer program offered to high school students who are entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year and are interested in Architecture or Design. Students learn in hands-on workshops taught by KU School of Architecture & Design faculty. The residential camp option is held at the Lawrence campus, and the day camp option is held at the Edwards campus. The School of Architecture & Design is hiring a Design Camp Assistant to aid with camp logistics and activities, including preparing materials and supplies for upcoming camp activities, coordinating mealtime logistics, and assisting with additional duties as assigned.
Applicants must be available for the entirety of both weeks of Design Camp: May 31 – June 6 and July 6-10, 2026
