Dear Colleagues,
It seems impossible that we are approaching the middle of the semester already. We hope the semester is going smoothly for you. If your fall break takes you away from campus for research, we wish you safe travels and all the best!
See the offerings from the Indiana CTSI below. Please note that the first item has a limited number of registrants, so it may reach capacity before you get this message.
We are very excited about our upcoming Indiana CTSI Summit on campus on October 21. If you can't attend in person, register to attend remotely. Feel free to pop in and out of the sessions via Zoom as your schedule allows.
The Indiana CTSI is launching a new Project Development Team (PDT) hosted by Notre Dame and the Regenstrief Institute. The theme of the PDT is "AI Use in Health Data and Responsible Healthcare." John Lalor from Notre Dame (MCOB) and Andrew Gonzalez from Regenstrief (IUSM) will lead the team. More information about the PDT will be coming soon. Happy fall!
Sincerely,
Melanie DeFord, Deputy Director and Assistant Vice President for Research
Prakash Nallathamby, Notre Dame Navigator of the Indiana CTSI

Designing, Selecting, and Evaluating Implementation Strategies |
An in-person implementation research methods workshop featuring Dr. Byron Powell, leading expert in designing, tailoring, and evaluating strategies to implement evidence-based interventions in health and social services. Skillful translation of research findings into actionable and effective implementation strategies is critical to improving adoption and sustaining the delivery of evidence-based practices. Dr. Powell’s research focuses on strengthening organizational and system capacity to implement evidence-based practices by advancing widely used frameworks, methods, measures, and reporting standards for rigorous implementation research.
In this workshop, Dr. Powell offers implementation scientists practical, hands-on guidance on designing, selecting, and evaluating implementation strategies — a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the field’s most influential voices

T32 Postdoctoral Training Awards in Translational Research |
Submission Deadline: October 28, 2026
|
The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) T32 Postdoctoral Training Awards, funded in part by NCATS, are designed to provide promising postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to be mentored in research-intensive multi-disciplinary settings toward the goal of developing careers across the spectrum of translational research.
The emphasis of the Indiana CTSI postdoctoral training awards in translational research is to move findings from basic laboratory and pre-clinical research (referred to as T1 research) toward the development of new treatment options or interventions or clinical trials (referred to as T2 research) to eventual dissemination or clinical implementation (referred to as T3 research) to studying population health outcomes and health metrics (referred to as T4 research). The phases of translational research may not necessarily be linear and can jump steps depending on the research project and the starting point. The goal of the Indiana CTSI is to make awards at all of these stages.

The Indiana CTSI includes Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame as the major academic partners along with a number of other institutions and entities in the state.
It is funded by a Clinical and Translational Sciences Award from the National Institutes of Health amounting to some $38 million for the current seven-year funding period of 2023-2030. This funding is supplemented by additional support from many other institutional and corporate partners.
Funding is provided to researchers by many mechanisms to promote translational and collaborative research among the partner institutions.
