Tulane University’s spring 2026 semester is wrapping up. We are sharing important dates to mark on your calendar this month.

Tulane University recognizes that the student move-out period can generate increased trash in the surrounding neighborhood and is committed to being a good neighbor by helping maintain clean streets. To support this effort, Tulane is sponsoring trash and bulk pickup services. In addition to weekly pickups on Mondays and Thursdays, extended routes along Broadway and Pine are scheduled for May 11 and June 5.

No construction or renovation materials will be collected during this period. Weekly service will pause after June 5 until the fall semester resumes. Trash-related issues in these areas can be reported using the online reporting form. 

Tulane is also expanding its annual “Trash to Treasure” move-out initiative to reduce waste. This spring, the university aims to divert 70,000 pounds of items left behind by students, including furniture, clothing and unopened food, to more than 20 local nonprofit organizations. Designated collection sites, including several 24-hour locations, will be available across campus during move-out.

Tulane University’s Unified Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2026 will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 5 p.m. in the Caesars Superdome. This event celebrates the graduation of students from all schools within the university. This year’s keynote speaker is Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-winning actor Sterling K. Brown. There will be no road closures near the uptown campus related to graduation ceremonies. 

Tulane University student volunteers led a litter cleanup uptown on Saturday, April 11, as part of the statewide Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Love the Boot initiative. Hosted by the Tulane University Office of Sustainability and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Programs, students removed 20.5 pounds of trash and seven pounds of recycling from the Carrollton neighborhood.

The Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane University is currently featuring The Moss Mystique: Southern Women and Newcomb Pottery, an exhibition exploring how Newcomb College Pottery helped shape ideas of Southern identity through art and design. Through depictions of local flora, landscapes and natural forms, the exhibit examines how artists defined a sense of place in the American South, with works from 1895 to 1939. 

The exhibition is on view through Dec. 4, 2026, at the Newcomb Art Museum (50 Newcomb Place) and is free and open to the public.
