Carrie Costa
Carrie Costa started working at Active Wellness Center Petaluma in September of 2022 as a group exercise instructor. It has been a great 11 months with her on the team! She is a great instructor, very helpful, and very proactive when it comes to safety.Â
Carrie has been teaching group fitness classes since the early 90s. Right now, she teaches Aqua Aerobics, Body Blast and subs for Kadence classes. She enjoys attending group fitness classes offered by other instructors so she can experience new teaching styles. She likes working out at Active because the gym offers so much; classes, massage, swimming, steam, sauna, and a cafĂ©. Carrie plans to schedule her next retreat week with Active as the central hub of activity.Â
Carrie has a strong functional body that enables her to do all of her favorite fun activities. Right now, she is learning how to water ski. Carrie had the honor of training with people who have overcome significant challenges, that made her own obstacles seem negligible. She has worked with cardiac and joint replacement patients, a severe burn patient, as well as people who wanted to get ready for their first 10k or simply to be ready for life. Their courage and commitment was very motivating to Carrie.Â
Carrie loves all exercise, but if she had to choose, running, swimming and strength training are at the top of the list. She also likes to garden, cook, and bake. A unique fact about Carrie is that she asks for “impeccable form, muscle activation, and movement patterns” at the beginning of every class. She says this to invite members to improve their mind-body awareness and to self-evaluate movement patterns. Fitness classes offer a perfect opportunity to re-train ourselves in neutral spine, stabilization, mobilization, and strength development.
When notified about winning Employee of the month Carrie responded with, “Thank you Active Wellness for bringing me on board.” As you can see, she is as humble as they come. Keep up the good work Carrie!
