MAGIC's Annual Self-Care Retreat |
|
|
On Friday, May 16th, we hosted our annual Self Care Retreat at the Presidio's Crissy Field Center. We set aside an afternoon for service providers to focus on themselves, because they are often taking care of others. The Self Care Retreat gives frontline staff a day to reset and refresh before summer programming begins. Activities included a bird watching tour, sound healing workshop, DIY aromatherapy diffusers/rollerballs, and sugar scrub making. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Presidio for hosting us, Nekia for the sound healing workshop and all our participants who joined us!

During the summer months we annually serve over 3,000 participants in combating summer learning loss, which disproportionately impacts youth of color and low-income communities. We financially support and host 20 impactful events that bring together multiple youth serving organizations. These summer events provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth and their communities to build relationships, explore San Francisco's hidden gems, and exposure to literacy, art, and STEM enrichments.
Your generosity makes it possible for us to continue to financially host our summer program.

Join us for a vibrant, authentic, and energetic evening, where the past, present, and future of Hip Hop come together for an unforgettable event. Presented by Zaccho Dance Theatre and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Bronx Revolution and the Birth of Hip Hop is an electrifying stage performance that brings the origins of Hip Hop to life through a fusion of dance, storytelling, visual arts and live DJing.
Featuring legendary pioneers Grandmaster Caz, GrandWizzard Theodore, MC SHA-ROCK, Graffiti Artist BG183, BGirl Rokafella, BBoy Kwikstep, a powerful pre-recorded video performance from Grandmaster Melle Mel, and archival photography by Joe Conzo, Jr., the evening is a rare chance to see icons of Hip Hop take the stage in the Bay Area. Combining breakdancing, beatboxing, graffiti artistry, and spoken word, this is an experience so immersive that you’ll feel like you’re in the Bronx in 1973 when it all began.
