Dear Colleagues,
Last August, the university announced the adoption of the Policy on Policy, which governs the creation and revision of all university-wide administrative policies. All new or revised policies are now managed by the Policy Office of the department of Enterprise Risk Services and are catalogued online in the Tulane Policy Library.
This month, five new or revised policies were added to the Policy Library:
- Data Governance Policy: This new policy establishes the Data Governance Program, which guides the strategic oversight of how the quality, consistency, usability, accessibility, availability, and protection of Tulane data should be addressed throughout its lifecycle. University data includes any data or information, regardless of electronic or printed form or location, that is created, acquired, processed, transmitted, or stored by the university.
- Data Management Policy: This new policy establishes uniform data management standards and identifies shared responsibilities for assuring the security of data and its availability to the university community.
- Data Classification Policy: This new policy establishes uniform data classification levels for university data and identifies shared responsibilities for classifying such data.
- Policy on Equal Opportunity/Anti-Discrimination: This updated policy is instrumental to the university’s goal to be a community free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. 2022 updates include: an updated version of Tulane’s Equal Employment & Educational Opportunity Statement; acknowledgment of the Louisiana CROWN Act; updates to position changes for key campus personnel; and changes to the definition of domestic violence per federal regulations.
- Tulane University Policy in Compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act): This updated policy governs the university’s compliance with the Clery Act with regards to the ways specific crime/incident data and information is disclosed to the campus community.
Questions regarding these policies can be directed to the Enterprise Risk Services Policy Office at policyoffice@tulane.edu.
