Dear Campus Community,

Earlier today, CC conducted a test of our RAVE notification system using the Standard Response Protocol with a focus on the “Secure” protocol.

Standard Response Protocol for Secure:

  • Directive: “Get inside. Lock outside doors.”
  • Purpose: This is used when there’s a potential threat or hazard outside the building.

We recognize that everyone experiences these kinds of drills differently. Your personal background and past experiences can shape how you respond, and we want to acknowledge that this drill may have affected some members of our community more than others.

If you’re feeling unsettled or just need someone to talk to, please know that support is available.

For Students:

  • The Counseling Center has drop-in appointments available this afternoon. Please call (719) 389-6093 to set a same-day appointment.
  • TimelyCare is also available 24/7 for virtual care, self-care tools, and well-being support. Be sure to register using your CC credentials.

For Faculty and Staff:

  • UWill provides access to a 24/7 crisis line, six free scheduled visits with a mental health provider, and a suite of wellness activities and programming. Visit UWill for more information.
  • Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) also provides counseling. Visit the website for more guidance on this resource.

The purpose of these drills on campus is to help everyone build confidence and “muscle memory” for how to respond in different situations. Testing helps us refine our procedures, clarify roles, and improve our overall emergency preparedness.

If you didn’t receive today’s RAVE notification via email, please forward this message to Campus Safety along with your name and CC email.

Want to learn more about how we prepare for emergencies? Visit our Emergency Preparedness page for resources and procedures.

Thanks for helping keep our campus safe and prepared.

Thank you,

Campus Safety
