As a member of the NASPA First Scholars Network, UTA will have the unique opportunity to learn and share best practices among colleagues from across the nation and to access new models and services that will benefit first-generation students within three years.

Lou Diamond Phillips spends time at UTA

Actor, writer, and director Lou Diamond Phillips is returning to UTA, his alma mater, for a weeklong residency in the College of Liberal Arts, which began Saturday, Oct.14. The Tony Award nominee will lead classes and interact with students across the college in an all-day film shoot.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments and the Shimadzu Institute for Research Technologies, part of the Office of Research at UTA, will host a Shimadzu Innovation Exposition, Thursday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. Attendees will learn about the latest innovations happening on campus and commercially with Shimadzu. The event will be located at Red River and Concho rooms in the University Center.

Join the Homecoming crew and the Division of Student Affairs for the annual Chili Cook-Off, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8, 12-2 p.m. Teams will compete to win the ultimate prize of chili cook-off champion, bragging rights, and a trophy. The event is open to all UTA students, faculty, staff, and alumni groups.

Homecoming 5K Run/Walk/Roll
|
Planned for Saturday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., UTA’s Homecoming 5K will take a scenic route throughout the UTA campus. The 5K is open to all UTA students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Participants are welcome to walk or run. All the proceeds of the event will go toward the UTA Emergency Assistance Fund.

Global Seal of Biliteracy
|
UTA students who speak a language in addition to English can test their proficiency to receive the Global Seal of Biliteracy, a micro-credential that conveys language proficiency. The test is offered in more than 40 languages through the Department of Modern Languages. Email proficiency@uta.edu for more information.
