| Next adult formation class starts this Sunday, May 4 |
We're launching a new adult formation series centered on our emerging partnership with Head Middle School—just a mile from downtown Nashville. On May 4, we’ll welcome Jenny Runyon from Operation Andrew, who will share powerful stories and tangible ways to support this dynamic school community. From reading support and event help to teacher appreciation and incentive donations, there are many ways to make a difference.
The series begins May 4 with an introduction to our church’s vision for this partnership and continues May 11 and 18. We’ll hear from parishioner and school principal Seth Swihart, along with a STARS Mental Health Counselor and a specialist in Restorative Practices, offering a deeper look into the realities students face and how we can walk alongside them.
Whether you're eager to volunteer or just curious about what this partnership might look like, we invite you to come learn, reflect, and explore how we can live out our faith through meaningful community connection.

| Art installation in the nave |
You may have noticed a new art piece in the nave on Sunday. The mixed-media piece titled "Jesus Wept" is by artist Wayne Brezinka and will be on display during the month of May.
"Jesus Wept" is a moving and evocative portrait that invites us to consider Christ’s compassionate humanity in a broken world. Created in response to the ways Jesus' image has been misused in modern culture, this mixed-media piece offers a tender and honest glimpse into a Savior who not only loved but also grieved. Inspired by John 11:35—“Jesus wept”—the shortest verse in Scripture, the portrait captures a moment of sorrow as Jesus mourns the death of his friend Lazarus. The artist reminds us that though Jesus believed resurrection was coming, he still wept. He grieved with others because sorrow and suffering are part of being human.

For the Poor and the Neglected
|
Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you
all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us
to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick,
and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those
who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow
into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for
our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |
