FREE virtual training course available to SCPA Collegiate members! |
Thanks to funding from the SCPA Foundation, a self-paced online training course is now available to all SCPA members at no charge. This training will be especially helpful for collegiate journalists! Training topics include newspaper basics, interviewing and reporting skills, sourcing considerations, news judgment, headline and cutline writing, AP Style, copy editing and basic photography. Members who complete the entire course will receive a Certificate of Completion. If you have a staffer who could benefit from this training, please sign up!

SCPA's accounting manager will be in touch soon with your news organization's dues invoice. Dues must be paid before you can order press IDs or enter the 2023 Collegiate Contest (coming in October).

SCPA is looking for a Midlands area college student intern to assist with our statewide public notice efforts. This is a part-time position for the fall semester that will pay $12/hr for 8-10 hours per week. Applicants need to be in Columbia. Hours are flexible during the work week (9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.). Candidates should have excellent communication skills, a high attention to detail, be a quick learner and have solid experience using technology. Some knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat is a plus. Interested candidates should email Jen Madden. Please include a resume and availability.
