Portugal's Algarve Region enchants Senior Golfers
Senior Golfers made a return trip to the golf mecca of Portugal this fall and were delighted with the stunningly beautiful weather, the absolutely gorgeous golf courses, and the historic, yet elegant, accommodations in the charming small town of Tavira. At the welcoming reception at the Pousada Convento enclave, newcomers Karen Van Nort and Aloysius Siow were welcomed into the group.
Participants traveled by Tuk Tuk on a tour of the historic streets, churches, salt flats, and the thriving farmers/seafood market of Tavira. The unique experience of cruising the Ria Formosa by relaxing solar boats was enjoyed, and the bonus of viewing an amazing plethora of flamingos, storks, ibis, and heron (including an adorable and endearing teenage flamingo adjacent to our boat) was a highlight for all.
After three days of play on the spectacular Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima, and the #1 Course in Portugal, Monte Rei, winners at Gross were Dale Moulton and Michele Wallace. Net Champs were Tom Coleman and Mary Ann Calvert. Best Ball Winners were Tom Coleman, Ray Mitchell, Dale Moulton, and Aloysius Siow. Daily Net prizes went to Christie Moulton and Aloysius Siow. Congratulations and best wishes to all!
