We’re talking the text! Each Tuesday, the pastoral staff discusses the sermon text for the upcoming Sunday, and we publish it each Wednesday in our eBlast and our YouTube channel on Wednesdays. We invite you to listen in and hear our conversation about God’s Word. The link is provided below, and the sermon text is based on Luke 21:5-19 and Malachi 4:1-2.

Your generosity builds us all up!

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

Whose City on a Hill? Exploring a Biblical and Civic Idea.
"A city on a hill" is a phrase from Jesus' Sermon on the
Mount, but has been used by Christian communities and by
American politicians in different, and sometimes overlapping
ways. Drawing on both its original context and the history of
its interpretation, we will explore this idea.
Led by The Reverend Edwin David Aponte, Dean of the
Theological School and Professor of Religion and Culture at Drew University. Previously, Aponte served as Executive Director of the Louisville Institute. He was on the faculty of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, served as academic dean at Lancaster Theological Seminary, and Christian Theological Seminary. He is a Minister of Word and Sacrament and a member of the Presbytery of the Highlands of New Jersey.
Aponte serves as co-moderator of the General Assembly Special Committee to Write a New Confession, Presbyterian Church (USA).
