Trip to Western Kenya, February 10-18, 2024

We carefully negotiated the small dirt passageways of corrugated metal and clumsily plastered concrete walls stepping over stones, interrupted by occasional sunlight, and arrived in a narrow alleyway where we were surrounded by about 50 bug-eyed, shiny headed small children of God. They were gathered there for what would perhaps be their only meal that day, rice, beans and flatbread. We were in the heart of Kibra, the worst slum town in Nairobi. Alice brought us here. Dear Rotary District 5750 Members,
Love is in the air this February! As Rotarians we have love for humanity! I think about Rotary’s campaign to End Polio and bringing the gift of health around the world.
As of February 7, our district ranks 17th in our Zone for total cash polio giving at $7,042 and 17th in per capita giving at $4.26. While these numbers are commendable, we know we can do even more.
