TWO PIANOS

TWO PIANOS film still
France, 2025, Arnaud Desplechin

TWO PIANOS follows accomplished pianist Mathias Vogler (François Civil), once a child prodigy, he returns to his hometown to reunite with his mentor, Elena (Charlotte Rampling), to prepare a series of duets. A chance meeting with Claude, a former lover, and the sighting of a boy in a park who looks much like him, forces Mathias to explore his past and what could have been. "The melodrama begins at such a high pitch, you might think it has nowhere to go but down, yet this earnestly inflamed tale of art, grief, betrayal and all-consuming amour on steroids keeps finding new ways to surprise" --Guy Lodge, Variety.  Subtitles. 115 min.

MORGIANA

MORGIANA film still
Czechoslovakia, 1972, Juraj Herz

In MORGIANA, two sisters, both played in convincingly different styles by Iva Janzurova, have a falling out when one receives a larger inheritance after their father’s death. The aggrieved sister decides to use a slow acting poison on her sibling, then suffers guilt for what she’s doing. "What could easily have resulted in a patchwork of styles comes delightfully together as a small gothic treat, an offbeat and seductive hybrid of period (melo-) drama and post-60s experimentalism, one that gender-inverts Poe, building intriguingly to a final scene in which chance and irony collide in a manner that should play as preposterous, but somehow feels just right for the story" --Slarek, Cine Outsider. Subtitles. 97 min.

HELLO DANKNESS

HELLO DANKNESS film still
Australia, 2023, Soda Jerk

Comprised entirely of hundreds of pirated film samples, HELLO DANKNESS is a bent suburban musical that bears witness to the psychotropic cultural spectacle of the period 2016 to 2021. Set in the American suburbs, the film follows a neighbourhood through these years as consensus reality disintegrates into conspiracies and other political contagions. Part political satire, zombie stoner film, and Greek tragedy, the work is also informed by the encrypted memetics of contemporary internet culture. 70 min.
