Highlights for this Week

 

It’s that time of year again! The MAGIC Programs will be hosting our Backpack Giveaways & Annual Back-to-School Celebrations on Saturday, August 2nd, and Saturday, August 9th from 11a-2p. Our first Backpack Giveaway will be held at Ella Hill Hutch Community Center (1050 McAllister Street) and the Back-to-School Celebration will be held at NOW Hunters Point (155 Jennings Street). Bike raffle is open to all, but all bikes must be picked up on Saturday, August 9th at NOW Hunters Point (155 Jennings Street) Enter here for the bike raffle!  Mario B is looking for fresh faces for the Back-to-School Fashion Show happening August 9th! Join us for a family-friendly night of fun! The Annual Bayview National Night Out will be on Tuesday, August 5th, from 4 PM to 6 PM, and aims to strengthen community ties with law enforcement.

At Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House and Joseph Lee Recreation Center - 4705 3rd Street

Attendees can enjoy family resources, a Kid Zone, free food and drinks, live music, interactive exhibits from public safety agencies, local vendor showcases, and raffles.

BMo'MAGIC 2025 Summer Youth Showcase

We are thrilled to invite you to our 17th Annual Youth Showcase, a highlight of the summer where we celebrate the incredible talents of our young people! This year’s showcase promises to be an unforgettable event filled with creativity, passion, and community pride.

We’ve created a promotional trailer and Eventbrite page to make it easy to share with your networks. The Youth Showcase is free and open to all, but we encourage everyone to register so we can accurately track community attendance. Let’s fill the theater and show our youth the love and support they deserve!

Join Rafiki Coalition for a10-week Mental Health & Sisterhood Circle for Black Mothers. Rooted in Healing is a Free 10-week support group designed for Black mothers at all stages of their journey-prenatal, postpartum, and beyond. Grounded in Black feminist thought, liberation psychology, reproductive justice, and Afrocentric healing traditions, this space offers a mix of mental health education, sisterhood, storytelling, and community care.

Tour De Bayview: Fat Cake and SFBike Ride with Purpose

Fat Cake and SFBike are teaming up on a special afternoon ride through the heart of Bayview, where vibrant community, stunning views, and untapped potential come together.

We’ll meet on Saturday, July 26th, at 2pm at SFBike office (1720 Market Street) for an approximately 16-mile loop exploring hidden gems, waterfront bikeways, and wrap up at Standard Deviant with local beers and conversation about and the infrastructure gaps that shape how people move through the neighborhood.

All are welcome and riders should come prepared with sunscreen, a helmet, flat repair kit, water, bike lock, maybe a snack.

Join Ruth Williams Opera House in announcing Quique Neira, one of the most influential voices in Latin American reggae and former lead singer of Gondwana, will be performing live in San Francisco for the very first time on Saturday, July 26th.

Quique Neira has inspired generations across Latin America with his powerful vocals, uplifting messages, and signature reggae sound. From his groundbreaking work with Gondwana to his celebrated solo career, he continues to spread positivity, unity, and roots reggae vibes around the world.

Important Venue Update: This special performance has been moved from Rickshaw Stop to the Historic Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House.

Kindergarten 2 College is having their Virtual College Tour.

Select colleges will be highlighted each week on K2C's social media and website for students to "tour" online and have the opportunity to win a $100 scholarship in their K2C account. First-generation college students, low-income households and students from groups underrepresented in higher education are especially encouraged to participate. Congratulations to the class of 2025! San Francisco’s Kindergarten to College program (K2C) is the first universal Child Savings Account program in the country. You have at least $50, plus any personal contributions and incentives, to continue your education after high school. The City of San Francisco opens a K2C account for every SFUSD student because we believe YOU have a future worth saving for. Eligible students also have $500-$1,500 in a CalKIDS account from the State of California. Visit K2CSF.org and CalKIDS.org to claim your money today!

 
 
 
 

 Climate and Mental Health Study. Have weather changes affected how you feel? Researchers want to learn if changes in climate, heat, and the overall environment have affected your mental health. Volunteers will be asked to participate in a 30-minute interview, to discuss how heat and climate events have impacted their health while living the Bayview-Hunters Point. We are looking for Bayview-Hunters Point residents over 18 years of age. Participants will receive a $25 gift card.

At LEJ, we are proud to offer free EcoAdventures to youth in our SF communities! Our EcoAdventure Programs are fun and educational field trips that aim to provide underserved youth with the opportunity to explore green spaces, participate in a variety of outdoor activities, and connect with our mission of environmental justice.

Offered year-round, weather permitting. Open to grades K-12 and young adults 18-25. EcoAdventures are 2.5 - 3 hours long, occurs 9:30am to 1pm.
