Esther Oko ’25 is going to the University of Michigan for a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded REU (research experience for undergraduates) for the summer 2024. University of Michigan has one of the top chemistry graduate programs in the country.
Associate Professor of Biology Giancarlo Cuadra, biology major and Shankweiler Scholar Sophie Tomov, biology major Maya Tabakha, biochemistry major Sara Pecorelli, biology major Nicole Christian, biology major Alexander Emam and public health major Sabeen Safi went to the 99th meeting of the Pennsylvania Academy of Sciences last weekend. They received a grant award, and for the first time, the lab received extramural funding for research. The students' projects are related to the effects of vaping in oral biology. The grant is specific to study immunobiological alterations of macrophages when exposed to E-liquids.
