Campus is already buzzing with the early arrival of students! We can't wait to kick off the semester with Welcome Week. While there are plenty of fun events planned, remember there is also plenty of time to get involved. There is programming all year long, and even another involvement fair in the spring. You don't have to have it all figured out now!
I officially stepped into the role of Interim Vice President for Student Affairs today, so while I’m no longer the Dean of Students, my commitment to you remains in my new role. Next time you receive this newsletter you'll be hearing from Interim Dean of Students Scott Bye, who has served as an Assistant Dean of Students for the past 3 years here at OHIO and is ready to support you. First-year and transfer students can also get in touch with Assistant Dean of Students & Director of New Student and Family Programs Mak Olaker, who you met during BSO. No matter who you reach out to at OHIO, we're here for you on your journey.
I'm looking forward to the year ahead and seeing many of you on campus later this week!

As you prepare to move in, be aware that construction projects are underway throughout campus and on nearby roads. These improvements may cause delays or changes to both vehicle and pedestrian routes. Larger vehicles, like U-Hauls, may face challenges accessing certain areas on campus. The City of Athens’ construction project on Richland Avenue may affect your route to Ohio University’s Athens campus in the coming weeks.
Make sure to read about any road and parking lot closures and make a plan for move-in or your class commute. Thank you for your patience and understanding as OHIO works to enhance our campus experience.

There are plenty of open positions for student jobs across campus! Search for jobs on the OHIO Jobs site, see if you are Work Study eligible or apply for a PACE (Program to Aid Career Exploration) role. There are even opportunities to work with organizations around the community.

First-generation students may be the very first people in their families to attend a four-year university, or they may have siblings who have attended college. Find resources to help you succeed!

Whether ongoing or temporary, students may experience emergencies that can impact their overall well-being and ability to be successful in college. Resources like Cats' Cupboard food pantry, housing help, bill assistance and the cap and gown loan program are here to help.
