A Celebration of Research and Innovation

UTA is spotlighting the ingenuity and creativity of its students, faculty, and staff at its first Celebration of Research and Innovation today, Monday, April 24, at College Park Center.

The daylong event, sponsored by Toyota, is akin to a collegiate science fair for UTA’s world-class researchers. It features some of the University’s top scientists and inventors alongside business leaders, entrepreneurs, commercialization experts, and more.

Medal of Freedom recipient Julieta V. García reminded a UTA audience to keep the next generation in mind at the annual Center for Mexican American Studies Distinguished Lecture.

Mavs Give Back

Join the UTA community this week for Mavs Give Back. Each day, we're highlighting an area of impact that needs your support, starting today with the Maverick Pantry presented by Kroger. By working together with other Mavericks, you will help students who need assistance to overcome barriers and stay on the path to graduation. Wellness Wednesday

Faculty and staff are invited to learn about the environmental dimension of wellness as they engage their sense of safety and connect with their physical surroundings at the next Wellness Wednesday lunch and learn on April 26 at 12 p.m.

Spring Forward

There is only one week left in UT System's Spring Forward Challenge. Groups of five to seven participants are encouraged to collectively log 1 million steps by April 30. For more information, visit go.uta.edu/wellness.

Volunteer for evening commencement on May 12

The Division of Student Affairs is seeking volunteers for the spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m. Sign up and help UTA celebrate this semester's graduates in style. For more information, email ryan.gilmore@uta.edu.

Employee tuition affordability

Beginning in summer 2023, UTA employees will have access to a new tuition assistance program, the UTA Employee Tuition Affordability Program (UTA-ETAP). UTA-ETAP replaces the current tuition reimbursement process by paying for eligible courses upfront, much like a scholarship. Details can be found at go.uta.edu/benefits. Reach out to the Office of Admissions at nativa.obrien@uta.edu to discuss a waiver of the admissions fees.

Apple sale

The UTA Bookstore is offering discounted prices on Mac and iPad products May 1-5. A University ID or alumni status is required to receive sale prices. Preorders are encouraged to ensure your item is in stock. Check out the website or visit the store in person to learn more.

Golf tournament

Join UTA Athletics Thursday, May 4, for the annual Maverick Open at Texas Rangers Golf Club, the home of UTA Golf. All funds raised will be used to directly support student-athlete scholarships. Participants must register by Monday, May 1.

Excellence awards

Nominations are open for the Maverick Performance Excellence Awards, an ongoing peer-to-peer recognition program where employees can nominate their colleagues to receive paid time off for exceptional performance.

BioBlitz

Enter the BioBlitz photo contest, sponsored by UTA Libraries and the Office of Sustainability. To participate, simply turn on your camera's GPS tagging, take photos of natural life on campus, and upload your photos to iNaturalist. Prizes will be awarded in various categories.
