President Cowley hosts State of the University address today

Join President Jennifer Cowley in celebrating a year of UTA accomplishments and preparing for an exciting academic year ahead at the annual State of the University address at Texas Hall today beginning at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the address. 

All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the address. If you are unable to attend in person, you can still watch the event live online.

The future of drones takes flight at MAVRC

Come witness the future of aerial autonomy as we officially open the new MAVRC outdoor drone testing facility on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Learn about its exciting research and industry applications and network with autonomous vehicle experts, technology developers, and industry professionals.

 

The event will feature facility tours, live drone demonstrations, and presentations from representatives of the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Federal Aviation Administration.

 

Please note that all demos will be held at the MAVRC, located just a brief walk across the street from UTARI. Register to attend now. All are welcome.

Are you creating fire and safety concerns?

Space heaters and other related high-current small appliances are generally not allowed on campus due to safety concerns. In extreme circumstances, they might be permitted on a case-by-case basis, requiring approval from Facilities Management and adherence to safety restrictions. 

For approval, email wosc@uta.edu with the subject line "space heater request" or "high-current small appliance request." 

For more information, review the policy guidelines regarding these devices.

Important Dates

  • Sept. 12 — Microsoft is ending Windows 10 support in October. If your device is using Windows 10, you will receive a pop-up beginning Sept. 15 prompting you to complete an upgrade. 

  • Sept. 15 — Concur users will see a new dashboard beginning Sept. 15 that includes a full-sized menu of modules and the “Create” button on the left side.
  • Sept. 17— Graduate School Expo is a college fair dedicated to graduate studies. Encourage your students to explore a wide range of graduate programs. Faculty and staff can also learn more about UTA’s own graduate programs and take advantage of the Employee Tuition Assistance Program. 
  • Sept. 25 — Join a campus tour for new faculty and staff. Guided walking tours last approximately 1.5 hours. To attend, arrive at the Dan Dipert University Welcome Center, 580 South Center Street, five to 10 minutes before the start time, wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes. 

  • Sept. 25 — The Faculty Playbook for Teaching: Award-Winning Strategies for a Better Classroom is a dynamic and inspiring one-hour workshop where our most celebrated UTA educators share their secrets to success. Some of our award-winning faculty will deliver lightning talks—each just five minutes long—to reveal their most impactful, practical teaching tips. This session is hybrid. Light snacks will be provided.
