CONGRESS RETURNS FROM RECESS, EXPECTED FLOOR ACTION
Both the House and Senate return to the Hill this week following their Memorial Day recess. Before they left, Congress had delayed action on its reconciliation package for immigration funding after the Senate postponed a planned vote‑a‑rama, missing President Donald Trump’s June 1 deadline. Lawmakers are expected to resume consideration this week, though procedural hurdles remain.
On the appropriations side, the House and Senate are both beginning FY27 markups across multiple bills. The House is scheduled to work this week on its Interior‑Environment, Transportation‑HUD, Labor‑HHS‑Education, and Homeland Security measures, while the Senate is scheduled to markup Agriculture, Commerce‑Justice‑Science and Legislative Branch bills.
