Congratulations to the boys cross country team on winning the Urbandale Invite on Saturday! Owen Wolfe finished first with a time of 15:47 followed by Jack Flori with a 15.55. The girls team opened their season with a third place finish at Urbandale led by Molly O'Halloran. Best of luck to the runners competing today in Marshalltown and on Saturday in Olathe, Kansas! Go Maroons! 

The Dowling Catholic Vanguard traveled to Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on Saturday for their first competition and came home with a third place finish. Congratulations on a great performance and an outstanding start to the season!

Fall Play
The DCHS Performing Arts Department will present Robin Hood and His Merry Men on Oct. 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 2:00 & 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets are $7 and must be purchased online
St. Joseph Fall Project
The Fall Project will take place on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 12:30-4 p.m. at DCHS. The service project is open to students in grades 9-12 who can earn up to three service hours. The service project will be a watershed cleanup day at Walnut Creek near DCHS. Students will check in from 12:30-1 p.m. at the east faculty parking lot and then walk to the creek where they will be put into groups to clean up the trails and creek areas. The day will conclude with ice cream at DCHS. Signed parent permission slips are available from Deacon Heinrich or Mr. Rolf and must to be turned in by Oct. 10. Nonpublic Transportation Reimbursement
Families who live more than three miles one-way from DCHS may be eligible for a nonpublic transportation reimbursement. Forms must be submitted each semester (by Dec. 1 & May 1). Eligible families will receive one check following the end of the school year. Instructions are available here.

DCHS Career Academy - Seeking Parent and Alumni Partners
DCHS is excited to offer a new Career Academy program designed to expose students to a rigorous core curriculum while simultaneously teaching college-and career-ready skills in specific fields. Thirty-two sophomores are involved in the pilot and we are offering academies in the fields of engineering/technology and health sciences. We are looking for partners in the community who work in these fields and would be willing to be guest speakers, serve on panels, host job shadows and eventually offer internships. Northwestern Pre-College Online Program
Northwestern has launched an exciting new program for motivated high school students that provides valuable insights and dynamic video lessons from subject-matter experts. The online courses feature interactive tools and a flexible structure that allows students to take multiple courses to discover a variety of academic areas of interest. They’ll be guided by mentors, and earn a Certificate of Completion from Northwestern University.
