Cape Verde Kids Missions Camp

ACOMI is more than an event. It is a growing children's missionary movement, a true story of hope.
The Cape Verde Church of the Nazarene Northern District NMI President and the District Coordinator of ACOMI report how a bold dream was born: to create a space where children could discover that they are also part of the great mission of Jesus. This dream took shape in the ACOMI Project – Children's Missionary Orientation Camp, designed to awaken from an early age a love for the Word and for missionary awareness. The project presented a clear vision: a camp that was both educational and recreational, where every moment, from worship to play, was an opportunity to teach Christian values in a playful and practical way. The theme, “Little Missionaries, God's Big Dreams," reflected the conviction that missions is not only for adults, but that each child can be an instrument of transformation.

In July 2025, this dream became a reality as 52 children, between 6 and 12 years old, gathered to live a unique experience of discipleship and mission.
The carefully-planned activities included worship adapted to the children, full of music and prayer; creative painting and handicraft workshops, which helped to establish biblical teachings; educational games, which taught cooperation, respect and love for others; and a special cultural evening, where children dressed up representing different African countries, celebrating diversity and showing that the gospel reaches all nations.
The impact was profound. The camp planted seeds of faith and missionary awareness. It created memories of friendship and service, and mobilized volunteers and leaders.

After the initial success, ACOMI began to expand to other locations in the district. In 2026 in Santa Maria, Sal Island, ACOMI’s theme “Beacons of Hope: Children in Mission" helped children learn that they can reflect the light of Christ and be beacons in a world that needs hope. It was a spiritual milestone that transformed theory into action through a powerful evangelistic walk through the streets, where the little ones put into practice what they learned by sharing the gospel with the community, taking advantage of the Easter message "Christ Lives."

The highlight was the delivery of 70 missionary passports for children, symbolizing the commitment of this new generation to be light and hope, reaffirming that the mission field begins now, in the heart of each child.
In Sal-Rei, the capital of Cape Verde, there has already been contact with the local church, paving the way to expand the children's missionary reach to another island.

In São Vicente, an island of Cape Verde, organization for the second edition of the camp is underway, strengthening the NMI-KIDS ACTION in the place where the project was born.
This project shows that with creativity, joy, and spiritual commitment, children can dream big for God. NMI-KIDS ACTION promises to form generations of little missionaries, prepared to bring the love of Christ to their communities and to the world.
