Amy Eisman and John C. Watson
arranged for their graduate and undergraduate students to see the Feb. 14 screening of the documentary film, “The Second Trauma” by Yvonne Latty, which examined harmful news coverage of gun violence. The screening at SOC would not have been possible without the tireless work of Kati Vera, Jacob Audouin, Kassia Bandrowski and Madeline Betz.
This was the university debut of the film, which will be making its way across the United Sates and into a number of film festivals. The panel discussion after the screening was recorded by SOC staff.

Margot's also was the featured guest this week on Terrence McNally's Free Forum podcast discussing her new book. McNally says he "explores the lives, work and ideas of individuals I suspect hold pieces of the puzzle of a world that just might work."
Patricia Aufderheide gave a talk, "How to Use Copyright in Visual Arts Teaching, Making and Curating," on Feb. 13 to the Katzen museum staff, and faculty and students in AU's studio art and art history programs, thanks to the organizing of Prof. Joanne Allen. She also gave a similar presentation, on Feb. 22, to the
New York Foundation on the Arts.

moderated a discussion with CNN political commentator and former South Carolina Representative Bakari Sellers about the importance of representation in politics, law, and media last week. The event was hosted by KPU.
John C. Watson was quoted by The Eagle
in a Feb. 22 article about FIRE, a conservative free-speech group. The group sent a letter to American University President Silvia Burwell threatening to ramp up publicity about AU’s newly announced free-speech restrictions if they are not reformed. FIRE asked for a substantive response from the university by Friday, Feb. 23.
