APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE RELEASES MINIBUS BILL TEXT
House and Senate appropriators have released the text of a final appropriations bill for FY26 that includes funding for the Departments of Energy, Commerce, Interior, and Justice, as well as water programs, the EPA and federal science initiatives through the end of the current fiscal year on September 30. Notable provisions of the proposed minibus include:
- NSF received $8.75 billion, about a 3.5 percent reduction from FY25
- NASA Science Mission Directorate received $7.25 billion, about a one percent reduction
- DOE Office of Science received $8.4 billion, about a two percent increase
- ARPA-E received $350 million, about a 24 percent reduction
POLITICO reports that the House is expected to take the package to the floor for a vote on Thursday. Lawmakers are expected to release the bill texts for packages containing the remaining six funding bills, and subsequently must pass them before the January 30th deadline.
